Monday 13th March Blog

Good Morning everyone!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Remember back in April 2016 when the National Environment Research Council (NERC) started a poll for the public to name a boat that will replace RRS Ernest Shackleton and James Clark Ross? Not remember that? Maybe you'll remember the name Boaty McBoatface. This is the poll when this name came about. Well, the boat didn't actually get named that although it was the public's favourite, and it crashed the NERC's website. The ship got named the RRS Sir David Attenborough, but a submersible was named Boaty McBoatface as a compromise. The Submersible is set for it's first voyage. It will investigate water flow and turbulence in the Orkney Passage- a 2.17 mile deep area of the southern ocean. Boaty is set to depart in Chile on the 17th of this month with the DynOPO (Dynamics of Orkney Passage Outflow) expedition.

He was then asked why the rumours had persisted, and he replied "It sells papers. It's worse for him, probably, poor chap." In 1995 Princess Diana confessed that her and James had an affair, and in an interview with Daily Mirror 15 years ago, Hewitt told them Prince Harry was already walking by the time his affair with Diana began

Strikes are taking place today across rail networks. Expect busy commutes and less services across the North, and in some places, replacement bus services where the trains won't be running.
